To make dirty plastic covered lifelines look better cover them with white plastic shroud covers sold with sail boat stuff. The covers are white plastic tubes split lengthwise and come in many diameters to slip right over your grungy plastic lifelines, not expensive either. I cut them to fit between my stanchions but some may just slide through the lifeline holes.
