Bilge Pump Discharge Loop

Good evening old friends, hope all is well with you folks!

Looking for opinions re this new boat build relative to the discharge line for the bilge pump. Never seen it done this way, seems to me it could cause air lock in the line. Thoughts?

I wouldn't want to see that downward portion of the loop on any boat that ever is likely to see freezing temps. Water will be retained up to the level of the through hull outlet and when frozen that water will expand the hose to make it mushy and porous or split and the hull fitting may wellbreak and allow the hose to discharge/recycle back into the bilge.

Revolve the fitting as shown 180* CW and you are in business. Upward , but no downward loop/trap.

Even without freezing issues, there is no need for this. You want a high loop not a trap.

My thoughts also, in fact, it seems an air lock situation would exist if water remains in that "trap". The reason I posted this picture is due to an individual purchasing this boat and, after my mentioning it to him, went to the builder about it. Builder claims he has been doing it for fifteen years without any problems.
