My bilge pump float switch has gone bad and I am considering the on/off type. However, I am concerned with the battery drain associated with the automatic on/off (my boat is on a trailer). Does anyone have experience with the on/off type? Are they more reliable then a float switch? Will the on/off cycles drain the battery (the manufacturers don't publish any data on how much power is used)?
