Does anyone have a recommendation for a marina in Bimini? I was thinking of a trip in September. Weather permitting.

Thanks,
Brian

Depends what you like, what you want to do etc...

Bimini bay, the monster development is nice if you like that kind of place and if you don't mind supporting a company which ahas virtually destroyed half of the island. Haven't been there in a couple of years, at which time everyone had to go check in in person and get tagged like cattle with a wrsit band. Still lots of construction so the view is mostly cranes and equipment.

Big game is nice, recently renovated, in Alice town. Middle of the range place, not a fancy as BB but pretty nice. $2.5 a ft I think. That's usually we here we go.

Next are are the four other smaller marinas sea crest, blue water, weech and brown. Cheaper, basic and rustic

I have not stayed at Bimini sands on south Bimini mostly because the entrance is a bit skinny for us just 6' at low tide although I heard they dredged it recently. Heard good things about it though, on the down side it s an enclosed basin surrounded by pink town homes leaving no view and little breeze.

That said be ready for a disappointment. BIM has fallen on hard time over the past few years and the town is dirty, dusty with many abandoned buildings. Trash everywhere... The long beach on the north west shore has shrunk quiet a bit and the cruise ship pier construction has made things even less appealing.l e northern half of the beach is just a big construction site. Again thank you Bimini Bay Resort world.

Finally you have Cat cay club, about 10 miles south. Nice place, but not much to do as the island is a private club. Convenient to clear customs and maybe spend a night. Next to cat cay is Gun Cay with honeymoon harbor and a nic anchorage on the west side. Three nice beaches, dozens of friendly stingrays.

What we do usually is spend a night at big game then another two night at gun cay. But day three most people are ready to go back unless they re into fishing.

Between BIM and CAT don't miss the wreck of the Sapona, great snorkeling.

Last time there (2years ago) stayed at Big Game. Really liked it. Showers and restrooms were well maintained and clean and the pool was very nice. The restaurant served a GREAT cheeseburger.

Before that, stayed a couple of times at Blue Water. Liked it too. But, quiet and rustic is much more my style than Bimini Bay type places.
