click here are a few pictures i took today in Bimini...

the newly dredged channel into north Bimini is nice and deep but all the buoys are gone... it's easy to find it though if you line up on the northern jetty into Bimini Sands then curve into the harbor along the beach. There is an easy to see (in good weather) dark line on the port / north side, you want to stay clear of that and of the shallow sand bar which extends from the south end of North Bimini.

The old range is still there but it's a longer run along the beach and it's a little more shallow than the new approach.

bimini Big Game Club is closed, not sure why it looks like it's still maintained.

The new Bimini Bay Resort MArina is fully operational although some construction is going on... Nice floating docks. The northern marina is next to the pool and may be better to some than the first marina. The channel into the marina is deep and well marked.

on the down side, the new resort has virtually destroyed 2 miles of beach along the NW shore... all the trees have been chopped down and cottages built along shore. there is still a mile of natural beach left past the resort at the north end, across from the bimini roads.. i hope this is preserved...

no, not on my boat... on "Charmer" the 70 footer that i captain...

Your Bimini North Entrance shot looks a bit lumpy. How did Charmer take the ride over?

Can you shed any light on what's happening at the Compleat Angler site?

Thanks......Roy

nothing, like so much of Bimini, it's just a bunch of ruins... This is one thing i dont' get about this place, there are so many buildings that are half destroyed and never rebuilt on some great sites, like the 2 or 3 hotels at the south end, near where the Chalks ramp used to be

What a shame. I'm sure, like me, many people have some great memories of the Compleat Angler. Thanks for the update.

Roy,
Dont think we will ever see the likes of The Complete Angler again. Like yourself, I am glad to have great memories of the good times had at The Complete Angler after a day of fishing.

looked exactly like that this week... there isn't much in Bimini to do, it's really like a ghost town, what a shame. not even a decent bar or place to hang out.

I walked 2 or 3 miles on the beach on the north end, rounding up on the east side, it's nice there, with possible anchoring in calm weather or in westerlies.

Today we went over to snorkel on the Sapona, that was fun. After that we went to Honeymoon Harbor... Since i wasnt' sure of the depth coming in, I anchored off Gun Cay (west side) and dinghied in. found a 9' spot near high tide, middle of the pass then mostly 12' inside the cove. so probably 7' at 8' at MLW... was surprised to see the beach had been cut by storms and there is now a shallow pass on the east side. still a great anchorage though.
