twin cummins QSB 380 looking to install oil pan heater, I wanted wolverine heaters but limited space would make it difficult for instillation.

I was looking at Kats 1160 magnetic oil pan heater anybody have any experience with this product
 
I use them on my cummins 6BTA on the block, they will not attach to the oil pan as it is cast aluminum.
 
I had them on my CATS and they didn't hold up very well. Unless that pan is perfectly clean you run the risk of the adhesive coming of and the heater not sticking properly to the pan.

I thought for sure my pans were clean but they weren't, the pad came off and dropped into the bilge. Not good.

Kim Hotstart heaters IMHO are much better. They heat your greem/pink coolant and basically hat the entire motor very efficiently.

My engine room is 50+ degrees when it's in the teens outside, motors are 100_ degrees all winter.
 
Ive had the wolverine stick ons for 3 seasons now on my 6bta`s. I really like them , they heat up really quick, you literally can turn them on shortly before you need to start, (1/2 hr.) We have some magnetic one`s on our bulldozer and backhoe,they need to be left on to do any good. Im sure it depends where on the block they get put but that depends on accessibility.
 
We have had low wattage Wolverine heaters for 8 seasons now on our cast oil pans with no issues so far.
