Just came back from Block and while the island was fantastic and it was a great trip all around, I have to tell you about our trip back. Today, about 15 miles from Block and heading to Plum Island, cruising at 29 mph, off our starboard bow my son sees what appears to sea gulls diving on a fish feeding frenzy. I expected it to be stripers or blues...but it turned out to be about 30 to 35 dolphins swimming in a group and in a big circle. I cut the engines and we filmed...within a minute or so several groups break away and come check us out swimming at or just below the surface around and under our boat. The water there is nearly crystal clear so they were easy to see. Simply spectacular and quite an amazing thing to see in person in the waters up here. Definitely the highlight of the trip. Oh, they had shark tournament going on at boat basin where we stayed so got to see some sharks up close and personal as well. Will post the video of the dolphins as soon as my son gets it off his phone.

Glad to hear you finally made the trip and had a good time. It's always fun to see Dolphins, did they do any jumping in front of the boat very cool to see!

In that area you either see dolphins or submarines!
Not sure which is cooler!
Glad it was a good trip.
I leave for block in a couple of weeks.

Been waiting for your report and glad it's a good one!

I loved your post. When I was a kid (35 yrs ago) my family used to travel from NY to Block every summer and I can remember coming through Plum Gut is pea soup fog, leaning over the rail on my dad's boat, listening for the bell. Your son is likely to remember to remember your trip for the rest of his life.

Dolphins are always a welcome visit when we are traveling. They cheer you up and look as happy to see you as you are to see them. Down here they always dive under the bow when we are under way.

Very Cool! We saw them last year in Great Salt Pond. Glad you enjoyed.

Very cool I assume you took your 31? At least you had good navigation and VHF radios and antennas. Should we bring up the Blouderback dream trip to Block?
The video is awesome good for you and your Son.
