This is the latest. With out electricity at Point Cadet, I am strongly considering an early leave and go all the way to Pensacola via the ICW. I hate to split from the group, but I do not have a generator and it will be hotter than H___ to sleep on my boat without the a/c.

Re: Blue Angels Rendezvous
Dear Boating Enthusiast:
The temperature is rising, the seas are calm, and it’s time to take a little vacation to Pensacola and watch the Blue Angels. The crew at Louisiana Yachting & Boating is in the process of working out the details. Here’s what we know so far:
Departure/Tchefuncte River
Our plans are to depart from the mouth of the Tchefuncte River at or near 9:00 am on Thursday Jul 19, 2007 in route to Point Cadet Marina in Biloxi, MS (N 30 23.393 W 88 51.479). Travel time is approximately 3.5 hrs. Point Cadet is a public marina located near Isle of Capri Casino. The marina is in the process of recovering from Hurricane Katrina and has limited services (fuel only/no electrical accommodations). Those of you who would like to take a breather and stay in Biloxi, either at the marina or a casino on the strip are more than welcome. The cost for mooring your boat at Point Cadet is $1.07 per ft. The troopers who would like to fuel up and continue their journey to Pensacola are welcome to do so. Slips will be available at Palafox on Thursday night.
Departure/Point Cadet Marina
We would like to depart from Point Cadet somewhere around 10:00 am on Friday morning to begin our trip to Palafox Yacht Harbor in Pensacola, FL (N 30 24 06 W 87 12 51). Palafox Harbor is a full service marina with full accommodations. We have 20 slips reserved at Palafox Harbor from 7-19-07 through 7-29-07. You can stay for as little or as long as you like from 7-19-07 through 7-29-07. The weekly rate at Palafox is $7/per linear ft. The daily rate is $1.50 per linear ft.
Please provide me with the information below so I can forward to Point Cadet & Palafox. If you do not confirm with us prior to July 2nd we will not be able to hold your spot. We will pass your info on to Palafox and they will contact you for specific info and length of stay. Please help us get this accomplished quickly. Please contact Barry Breau at 985-674-9940 or bbreaurb2@gr5tlouisianayachting.com if you have any questions.

Hi Babnab,

I was lost out there for a while but I finally found the group.

I have been in contact with La Yachting. I was advised that several boaters may stop for gas and move on. I intend to go straight through if the group does.

I will be in Mandeville tomorrow, attending the Seafood Festival. Stop by and say hello if you are in the area. My boat's name is Knot Again.

Nawtical1, are you still in for the trip to Pensasola? Did you hear about the Captains meeting tomorrow at the dealership?

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it. I am very disappointed. Please take plenty of pics.

Well let's say we made it. We had a wonderful time. Smooth waters going and coming. Great weather the whole weekend. We were able to run 30 to 35 miles per hour in both directions. Went 8 boats, came back 6 boats. Two had mechanical problems. The group of people were great. They were all very friendly and fun to be with.

My wife has pictures and a Diary of the happenings. When she down loads the pictures I will post them here.

It was a 213 mile one way trip. I would call it as being a little far to make in one day, but we did. Going took us almost 12 hours with 2 fuel stops, and bridges to open. The dealer is planning more trips. They will be day trips and over nighters. I am looking forward to more of these.

There was another 3060(brand new & the newest boat) on the trip. It is realy a nice boat. That was the newest and mine was the oldest at 17 years old. The new boat was purchased from the dealer Wenesday before we left. Thursday morning at 7:00 am he started a 213 mile shake down cruise. That is what I call one hell of a shake down. I should have the pictures here by this weekend.

I am really looking forward to seeing the pics. My heart was in that cruise. Did you meet Hank? He owns a 33' Cruisers Yacht.

I am going to guess that the new 3060 was the Tan one? Beautiful boat. However, I don't think I would have had the nerve to bring a brand new boat on that long a voyage, prior to the break in.

213 miles is a lot to cover in a day. That says a lot about the condition of your boat to make that type of trip without problems.
