OK. I always promised myself that when I moved to a community on the water, I'd have a boat.
Seven years later, I'm considering ruining my life, er, buying a boat. I have an EXTREMELY limited budget right now, but have found a nice 27 footer that would suit the needs of my family quite nicely for cruising, overnights, entertaining, etc.
Guy is asking 25 grand, which checks out as median in the BUC Valu pages. I'm hoping to start out low and meet him in the middle somewhere, if he's willing to move off his price.
Thing is, I've heard some people say there's not as much room for lowballing on a boat as there is in real estate or even other vehicles. Then again, other people have told me that's horsehockey, and it's the American way.
I'm just looking for a little experience-guided advice on this before I make an arse of myself with the seller. Any ideas would be lovely and most welcome.
