We are winter live aboards and have done a great job insulating the hull, windows and other points of heat loss. Almost too good because now we do not have drafts every where, lol.
Seeing as though we shower and cook on the boat the condensation has been increasing.

Is there a good "small" dehumidifier that people have used that they can recommend ?

The big box stores carry units for small rooms and areas. They are floor stand alone units.
Does anybody know of a smaller shelf mount, closet mount unit that I can put behind a wall (with the intake and exhaust exposed of course). I can plumb the drain to a sump pump so I do not need a self enclosed container that needs emptying every few days.
All of our fireplaces (diesel and propane) are vented outside and bring in fresh air to burn.

I just went to amazon.com and picked the size unit I wanted.. Do not remember just which unit, but it worked well.

I would stay away from the thermoelectric units that are around $100. They don't remove much moisture.

I am thinking a stand alone unit and a couple of small large blade fans to move the air around. Given you have it sealed up so well make sure you have good CO detectors.

Even most stand up units have a hose attachment that gives you the ability to drain directly into your sump pump

My preferred method would be two small units. One in the forward birth and one aft. The extreme ends of the boat.
The salon / galley area air gets turned over enough being next to the companion way. I was trying to avoid fans, but it sounds like a bigger unit with air movement will be the answer.

My experience is humidity seems to equalize easier that temperature and fans aren't necessary. I have one at home that if you cut the bottom off would be about a 14' cube. the bottom is just a water reservoir and can be cut off with a hacksaw without any problem.
