I am considering purchasing a good boat mattress as we usually sleep on the boat every weekend.Any suggestions of things to consider, local companies?

The thin mattress that came with the Mariner. I have a foam pad on top of it which is very comfortable but the factory mattress is an odd size/shape and the memory foam does not cover the whole mattress, which makes it shorter than it could be.

Two approaches. Google bulk memory foam. You can get the stuff relatively cheap now. Try to get all natural if possible. You can cut it with an electric carving knife. IF your mattres is too large you could piece together two pieces and have a cover/mattress pad made with zippers. I see you are in MD. My mattress is from "The Original Mattress Factory". It's one of the best sleeping mattresses I've ever owned. It's not a quick in and out place. They encourage you to take hours if not days on the showroom floor making your choice. It was quite different from my other experiences over the last several decades.

They do RV and boat custom work.

I've no affiliation with the company. They were just a pleasure to work with.

You have given me a great idea, I can always bring home the original mattress and use as a pattern. Will also check out The Original Mattress Factory. Thanks!

HMC. Handcraft Mattress Company.
Expensive but custom made and good quality.
I can't sleep on foam or pillow tops.
