hey guys, im new to this site i hope you can help me out. i have a 2001 bayliner capri classic 1950. 135 hp 4 cylinder i gave the boat a tune up about three weeks ago in cumberland and the boat ran great, except it was acting like a old hoopty car and didnt want to shut off (kept chugging). so two days ago my father and i turned the distributer a little thinking it was just out of time. well we got it to stop doing it and it was running great in the driveway. today i go to a local lake and when i started it, a noise was coming from the motor cover like a whistling sound (kind of like a vacuum line was off or something like that). when i took off across the lake the motor started pinging and knocking like crazy. i cant figure it out, i tried to move the distributer back and still the same. i dont know ???? can anyone help PLEASE.
