Ok, here's the deal. We've been boating about seven years and have had a great time.(most of the time) My wife thinks we have too much money in the boat,...the kids are getting older and busy with sports...college fund needs a boost. I'm sure many of you know the drill. Everytime a financial issue comes up I hear lets sell the boat!

We've got a very nice 2001 Cruisers 2870 with twin 5.0's and a new 7.0 Westerbecke genny. The only complaint about the boat is she would like a separate shower stall.

To make a long story short, I saw a beautiful old Luhrs in the back of the Sept. Motor Boating mag. Tell me I'm crazy, but what do you think of me selling the current boat (80k?) and looking for a beauty like the old luhrs. I know it will be much more upkeep and a slower boat, but please give me your thoughts.

If I could get an old classic that has been restored could I put 20 or 30k in the college fund? or do they run the same as my boat is worth?

I've looked on boattrader but have not seen much for sale. Any other models come to mind for you experienced boaters? I have twin 12 year old girls and a five year old boy.

Thanks for your help!
Bob
