Do you all have boat/broker shows out there? A couple times a year we have them at Jack London Square where the brokers bring in a selection of yachts. Just curious if they have them there in Maryland/Virginia and when.

There are several every year. Major ones are Bay Bridge in the spring (May), Annapolis in the fall (Oct) and Baltimore Convention Center in the winter (Jan). And I believe there are also some in the D.C. area.

Do you really want a new boat? The Chesapeake is packed with boats for sale of all shapes and sizes. But here's the show link: http://www.usboat.com

Absolutely knot. Unless of course I win the lottery. Is it a new boat show or a brokers show or both? The shows we have at Jack London Square are broker shows. Used Boats. And then a host of vendors in tents as well. Thanks for the link I will check it out.

The Baltimore show is a mid-size show, but used to be bigger in the past. January 27-30, 2011.

There is also usually the National Capital Boat Show on the second weekend of March at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, VA. It is a smaller show that caters to smaller fish boats and small cruisers, but I thiunk they had one baot up to about 40'. But, mostly fairly small boats.

I thiunk the Washington Boat Show in Washington, DC was cancelled this past year, but it is typically in February.

The Bay Bridge Boat Show is typically in late April and will be April 28- may 1 this year.
They have brokerage boats there, too.

Thanks Glenn. That is what I was looking for. I wish I could make the show in Atlantic City.

The Annapolis shows are the big event. Many reasons to attend the Power Boat Show including representation by manufactures of boats from dinks to the big Hats and Vikings, several vendor tents packed with everything from boat shoes to engines, heads, canvas suppliers, boating related nick-nacks... endless list. Finally, its in Annapolis, greatest boating locale on the east coast and maybe the U.S. Leave the show for a break and its just a few steps to an Italian restaurant, a crab house or Pussers' for a level 2 Pain Killer (I wouldn't go higher than a Level 2 during the boat show or the next morning you may discover a new Sunseeker in your slip with no idea why or how you're going to pay for it! ;) I know the Admiral and I will be there.. probably on that Friday.

With the exitus of new boat dealers all of the shows have used boat brokers in attendance. There are usually more broker booths than new. They dont always bring their boats but have all the listings and pictures. The Bay Bridge show even had many used boats in the water to see. Most broaker/dealers have an open house right after the boat shows.

Most of the shows have had fewer exibitors so they are starting to bring in more used boats to fill the gaps. Other wise they would have to cancel the shows. The DC show was cancelled last year because of that. The NY show, which we go to every year has become a sub par show. It wont be long before every show starts bringing in mostly used stuff.

If you come to Annap over the weekend of Sailbote show, a neat thing to see is the breakdown of sail show and start of power. Our YC always rents a room at the Marriott downtown and it is a really planned event. In a matter of 2 hrs. all sail is gone, and power is rolling up the channel. I prefer the upper floor of their parking garage, which also has a painkiller bar set up.

I am pretty sure I will find me a way to go to the Annapolis show in October. I am usually only there every other week but I may stay for two week and go boat shopping over the weekend.

If you express an interest to a builder that is on display, they many times will provide tickets at will-call in your name.

The Annapolis show will blow you away if the Jack London Square show is your reference point. Of course, if you want to take it up another notch, there is Ft. Lauderdale, though the used boats tend to be on the large to mega-yacht scale there. Another alternative, which is also a bit bigger than Jack london, is the Newport RI show next month, which usually has a trawler type section. Base on your other posts, in gas vs. diesel, it sounds like that is a direction for you. The various Trawler Fests also have a good selection of boats for sale.

There is a gofast display show at Kent Island, Hemmingways The Sept holdiay weekend. There are displayed listings if interested in that kind of boat.

Thanks Chris. Not really into the go fast. I will be in Maryland the week before but I am flying out to SoCal for the weekend to compete in the Disney Half Marathon.
