I'm most likely going to put the boat in the side yard this year. For all past 8 seasons or so, I stored in the water or in the Anchorage. I have a 31' Carver EC with a radar arch. The beam is about 10.10. My driveway is about 11' at it's narrowest. I'm wondering a couple of things....

1. Knowing that the driveway is my best bet, is that wide enough to squeeze by house or am I going to have a "gunnel" issue?

2. What's normally a good haul/storage $$ and does anyone have a regular that they use?

Not hauling yet, just planning ahead to get it out of the way so I can boat till there ain't no boating to be done.
 
Around $40/ft for haul, bottom cleaning and blocking. At Lasala's in Copiague. Very nice folks.

for a transporter ive used both hippie chic and svensons. i'm sure they would come by the house to see if they could infact get the boat in there.,
 
Before you make plans to store that large a boat, or any boat for that matter, on your driveway, check the local zoning code. Many communities do not allow the storage of a boat, particularly one which will visually over-power the house, anywhere forward of the rear building line of the house itself. You really don't want to go through the expense of moving and blocking it only to find a summons on your front door and an order to move the boat or else.Hy
 
Also consider sun exposure and condition of driveway.
I stored a boat on a trailer in my southern facing driveway and it managed to sink into the asphalt.
Guess a good piece of plywood helps distribute it better.
 
No ordinance that I know of. I've stored my 24 and 29 at the house. Just wider beam this time and a little taller so gonna put it on the grass in my side yard. Keeps drive useable and my lawn is only a lawn in the sense that it's green but not grass per se :-).

Called Svenson, we'll see how it goes.
 
Warren: Key words "that I know of." Check anyway, You don't want to have someone come knocking on your door with a summons for violating an ordinance you didn't know existed. All you need is one neighbor or passerby to call the authorities and you could be in trouble. I kept a 24' cabin cruiser on my lawn next to my garage for three and a half years while I restored it. I did learn later that there actually was an ordinance forbidding the storage of any vehicle, trailer, or boat taller than the garage, on the driveway or lawn. Luckily nobody reported it. When I added a room to our house and went for my CO, I learned that the 9.5' by 10' tool shed I had built next to my garage had to be moved because no out-building could be forward of the rear of the house! My next door neighbor's shed was OK because the town didn't know about it. I got caught because I followed the rules. I had 30 days to move the shed, get a variance, or pay a daily fine. I moved the shed. Hy
 
Hy, similar rule applies for a boat in a residential yard in Brookhaven. I too got a notice to remove after someone complained. I did have two boats at the time so I'm sure that was what caused the call. I believe the boat had to be behind the front line of the house.
