It was partly cloudy last night with an almost full moon. Someone wasn't paying attention. With the damage done to the boat, it looks like he hit it perfectly head on at full speed.

The 30-foot vessel crashed around 12:18 a.m., with a good samaritan calling rescuers and telling them he heard a loud crash and several calls for help near Ham Island, the U.S. Coast Guard said in a news release.

 
The only surprise is that it doesn’t happen more often. Down here every time we re out at night and that’s pretty often I see idiots running at high speed with lights everywhere around the helm and in dimmed nav gear.
 
Fine the operator, do a blood alc test and hammer his A&^ to the wall and make him pay for the damages
 
There aren't enough police on duty anymore for that to happen.
