Boatered Raft-up

I am out, weather looks cruddy and we have a family picnic Sunday afternoon.
How bout "next weekend?" 8-13 ??

Did you folks do the raft up?

Last nite's weather came in pretty strong and left a cool damp morning today.

Not me. Late start from wedding the nite before.
Weather wa iffy.
Today it's blowing good.
Bay looks angry.
Lots of boats on my dock at watch hill.
They will have a fun ride home!

We canceled the outing today with Linda's friends / co-workers. I was hoping to meet up with some of you guys. They say there is a break around 12:00, but I am sure that will be short lived as more storms are coming and also the winds seem to be blowing out of the south pretty good. That creates a very snotty north side of the bay.

I will go and hang on the boat and eat some of the snacks we loaded :--) Also need to fix the door that slides over my microwave. It is top mounted and the screws fell out, it is the kind that slides back over the unit. But it seems I have to take out the microwave to get to the hinge / bracket. I have a feeling this will turn into a project.

I brought my boat back to the house yesterday for the first time this season so will be around if you guys plan something soon. I got a slip in Montauk this year from May to the end of July and then spent this past week at Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard. Tammie and I have spent every weekend on the boat out there since the first weekend in May, did a lot of fishing as well as trips to Block and East Hampton besides the Edgartown trip. I was planning to break up the return trip and spend last night in Montauk but with today's forecast decided to do the run home from Edgartown in one shot yesterday. I really enjoyed the 1/2 season of east end boating but looking forward to the local spots and seeing you guys for the rest of the season. Considering anchoring out by Sailor's Haven next weekend but nothing finalized yet. I wouldn't raft up there though, too exposed to wind and wakes. But it's a potential spot to meet up even if we aren't rafted.

John,
We were thinking watch hill next weekend. We have been on boat every weekend but we don't leave the dock much. View is perfect right here. Sailors sounds good. May check out snapper inn Friday too.

Dave, Watch Hill would be nice too but I don't know if I'd get a slip this time of year on a Friday and after being off all last week I can't take a day off to get a slip Thursday this week. I like Sailor's Haven better for anchoring and I wouldn't have to worry about getting a slip. We'll see as the week goes on, I could end up fishing instead also.

John

I bet if u call first thing Friday you will get in. I don't think it's been very crowded lately. Sailors works too.
If w do snapper Friday we can shoot across to sailors.

my condolences...

I happen to like ford, not the escape though, pricey little truck. She's happy and that's all that counts. IMHO, the new explorer is really awesome.

Other than a little extra wind it turned out to be a nice day. WTF, we canceled plans due to the weatherman.

Walter, it was nice seeing you in Peter Lugers on Saturday, thanks for the paper. LOL.. :-)

If I knew the storms were going to hold off this long I would have taken the boat out today (or at least the dinghy). Last I checked the weather they said to expect t-storms starting around 3pm. Oh well, at least I'm getting yard work done...

Ditto Brad

No need to mock the Escape. I drive a Mariner which is the mercury version of the escape. Im a die hard chevy fan (even have the tattoo to prove it), but this truck is great. I leased it and its the best bang for the buck. Mileage is great (4cyl), and it can tow my little center console which was the most important. Its a great knock around day to day car that has a touch of luxury, which is what I wanted.

Walter, your daughter is going to love the truck!

The leases on mine and my wifes daily drivers are running out in a couple of months. We're both driving Nissans now, but the Escape is on the short list of replacements. It looks like a nice little truck for my wife. She likes to be up high, but doesn't like a car that's too big. The Ford is one of the vehicles that fits the bill.
She really wants a Jeep, but as much as I love them the gas mileage is usually terrible in them.

I have an escape. We like it. Functional. Roomy. Serves the purpose. Had the explorer. It was nice but a little too big. Escape is more car like than truck.
