Boaters lost on Lake Michigan

Two separate incidents , I don't know if anyone has any more information.

Apparently the second incident involved people jumping in for a swim, and then the boat floated away from them. Very Sad, and very avoidable.

Bet there was alcohol involved. Why would anybody jump into 45 degree water for a leisure swim.

Only speculation but there are a couple of things about the article. Firstly,, near coastal temps are in the low to mid 60s not the 40s or 50s. Secondly, near Michigan City there's a swimming area called boater's beach. The water is heated by the discharge from a power plant and it can frequently be 10 or more degrees warmer.
