BoatFix lists about 5 pages of caulk. I need a white multi surface sealant to be used topside around hatches, screw holes, a new horn install, etc.... any penetrations that might be leaking. Anyone recommend a good sealant for a saltwater environment?

Thanks,

You likely want to use more than one type. Each is designed for a specific purpose, and while an all-around product "will work", it is unlikely to work extremely well ( ie: you will need to do over much sooner w/ the gen. purp. product vs the specialized product )

Some items you listed need adhesive qualities, others will do best with a sealant only, non-adhesive product.

IMO. YMMV. Personally, I'd rather do it right the first time and never need to do it again.

Do not under any circumstances use a butyl tape for sealing joints where the product is exposed. A butyl tape is comprised of butyl rubber, resins and tackifying agents. It will cold flow under pressure and it will always remain tacky (pick up dirt and anything else). The cold flow is a problem since the tape will continue to ooze out of the joint. You'll have to re-tighten your fasteners or a regular basis. Butyl tapes will work well for certain applications, but not for marine joints.

There are three products that you should seriously consider as all around sealants. They are Life seal, Sikaflex 291 Lot and 3M 4000 UV.
