Joaquin is lining up this year.

The odds of landfall are increasing at this point. Cape Lookout to Southern Chesapeake.

Emphasis is CAT 1 to CAT 3 landfall at this time.
 
Hope you guys are preparing....new info shows this will be a major event......
 
In Winter it is usually bread, eggs and milk. So don't forget the syrup so you can make French toast.

Current track has it blowing right up the Chesapeake. I am thinking that means storm surge into the Delaware Bay, Jersey, NY Harbor and etc..

Mines being hauled Friday AM. Was sick in the winter, launched it late, was out of town on business a lot this summer and overall didn't use it much. Overall a fitting end to a sh$tty boating season.

Insurance usually pays for a storm haul out. Will you guys be able to get your winter haul out paid for by insurance?
 
I believe only if named hurricane.
They are now saying tropical storm on Long Island.
That was the deal with Irene, was a hurricane and at the last minute turned to a TS.
 
Latest this morning is that it is going east, out to sea and will barely impact us.
 
lets hope so. I'm thinking I may be safer in the water on Scott's Creek in Portsmouth as opposed to on land. Going over to talk to the marina owner now.
 
15" of rain still possible in South Carolina...om top of wet ground...this will have impact
 
Looks like the southern Bahamas is getting hammered because the storm is not moving very fast.
 
See the video below of how Virginians handle hurricanes. They have no tolerance for drama queen Weather Channel reporters who exaggerate or fake how bad it is. (Yes, it can be bad, but it was not bad in this video). Notice that he is doing a fake "swaying in the wind" in the first few seconds, until he is shown-up by some guys who easily strut by, busting his balls, and even mooning him. Lots of people go by with no problem, no fake dramatic swaying in the wind, etc. Of course, the Weather Channel reporter is wearing a flimsy nylon jacket and flimsy pants, which will flap in the breeze from a strong fart.

Why don't look up the NHC archive and see if you can back up that ridiculous statement with facts :)

5 days before landfall, when Isabel was north of Puerto Rico, the forecast had it entering the Chesie...

It's looking more like this will be a flooding event more than high winds. I'm thinking I'm better off on floating docks in the water than on jack stands in the parking lot. Likely to be lots of water around and under the boats on shore.
