Looking for a RIB inflatable and came across a 12' Boss boat. Looks like an inflatable but is fiberglass. Weight is 850lbs. Anyone have any info on these? Is this too heavy for my 52 Sedanbridge?
 
850 lbs sounds very heavy for handling. The lighter the better for launching from boat and getting back on board.I think my hard bottom inflatable weighs about 125# if I remember correctly
 
I have a 1200 lb davit so that's not an issue. Just thinking more about 850 lbs on the back of boat. I have a hard bottom inflatable as well but was searching for a rib with helm to be a little more comfortable and came across this.
 
Would it make sense to "load" test by having about 8 people sit/ride in the stern of your boat while at dock/anchor and also taking a ride to see the effect of the extra weight including getting up on plane. Keep in mind that the extra weight is probably not as far aft as the 850 # is probably positioned by the dinghy, so additional weight might be more representative.
I would guess that it might not matter on plane if you use trim tabs although you probably will burn more fuel. I notice that my 43 footer, 14' beam gets up on plane better (at lower RPM) without a full load of fuel and water, a 52 footer may be insensitive to extra weight.

just about any 3.5m RIB is going to weigh in wet at about 850#. your boat is large enough to carry the weight as many others do. you will need a davit or a lift installed. an all fiberglass tender does not have an advantage over a RIB apart from cost. if you are ok w all fiberglass, a smaller whaler has more deck space and is very stable for similar weight.
 
WM, bless their little black hearts, has a Hypolon 10.1 (310) single floor RIB on sale until the 21st for just a tad over $2,000. It looks like a nice boat and only weighs 100 pounds. PVC version is about $500 less.

My buddy bought one and I would too but I will never intentionally anchor.
 
Thanks all. I have a WM RIB that's two years old but looking for a RIB with helm. I decided I want an inflatable as the hard ones are not really conducive to my needs.
 
I cracked and bought my 3rd new dink in 3 years. WM gave me a great deal on the 350 Hypalon with a 20hp that I could not pass so I'm going to sell my WM310 RIB with my Johnson 8hp. If I ever find a great deal on one with a helm, I can sell this one and put the new 20hp on it.
