Hi everyone, just baught a 2017 , 320 Vantage Boston Whaler with 3 years warranty on 2X Mercruiser 350 verado joystic...BW is asking me 10500$ + Taxes to extended warranty 3 years on motors and cover some other stuff like oil refill when required due to repair and service road to my dock... anyway I am Canadian and will at most do 50-60 hrs per year on motors.... do you recommend I spent that kind of money ??

Thanks everyone for your recommendation

Stef

That's a lot of money.
The motors are where your exposure to expensive repairs are.
I would contact Mercury directly with the serial numbers of the motors and ask them about options directly from them for extended warranties on the motors.
My uncle re-powered his boat with a new Mercury outboard 4 years ago and bought an extended warranty directly from Mercury. Can't remember the exact price, but it seemed a lot more reasonable and it I think it was for longer than that.

Seems a lot to me as well. I mostly ignore extended warranties. Flush then each time and store dry dont use ethanol gas and I would not worry about them.

Thanks for info that is what I taught, i will check with Mercruiser tomorrow and yes the boat will be flush each time and kept on interior racks at Aquamira...thanks again

Those Verado's are supposed to be damned good motors. And I'm finding it hard to believe that much will go wrong with the rest of the boat in the short time (3 year) that your warranty will be in force. (It is a Whaler, after all...) For sure nowhere near enough to allow you to recoup the cost of that warranty.

Take the 10 grand and buy some toys (er, I mean "accessories") to go with your new boat. That's what I would do anyway...

Don't waste that money. If there is a flaw in the motor, you will surely see that in three years (base warranty). If not, you should be good for ten years passed that warranty.
