I bought my 52 in Sarasota, FL and brought it up on its own bottom. Trip took 7 days and was a good experience, my fuel cost was about $11,00 but diesel was around $4/gallon at that time. I bought my 320 Sundancer in Georgia in 2004 and had it trucked up. I arranged everything through Marine Max and the move, though expensive, was fairly painless. A friend of mine bought a 2006 44 Sundancer this time last year in Ft. Lauderdale and had the boat shipped up to East Patchogue. Move went well, I think it cost him $7,0000. For a 380 sized boat, especially if it's gas engines, trucking is the way to go.

Bought in and/or transported boat up from Florida?

I have purchased boats in Massachusetts, Ohio, Missouri, Wisconsin and Illinois. Never found a need to look in Florida. With lots of patience and some detective work you will find what you want not far from home. You are on the right track when looking for popular models of Regal and Sea Ray or their like. -- Don't buy what you can't sell! -- I budget to buy the boat that is very well accessorized and exceptionally maintained. Yes, the seller will demand a premium and may get it. However, I have found fewer problems and been able to sell quicker when the time came. Also, my toy had more toys on it to enjoy while I owned it. Be bold. Haunt boat yards and approach owners directly. It worked for me. If you are still willing to go some distance Michigan is a huge market and almost all fresh water boats that are used 5 +/- months each year. Good luck!

You could consider buying in Ontario. Freshwater boats, usually only used 5-6 months, like Michigan. Difference is, you buy while our dollar is low now, and get a hell of a deal... 25-30% off!!

Understood. Online asking $$ can be high, but often negotiated price can be substantially lower. We have a lot fewer boats here than you... But also considerably fewer real buyers. That said, the market is moving up here...
