Until science catches up with me, I can't do back surgery, so I am trying to figure out where I could put one of those Pride Electric Scooters. It would fit in the cockpit (I think), but water could be splashed on it.
The Sun Deck floor is the roof to the aft cabin and has held 8 to 10 adults many times, so it should be strong enough to hold one of these 4 wheel electric scooters. I don't know what they weigh yet, but the one I am thinking about would appear to be around 200-300 pounds. My davit would lift it, but where to store it?
I thought about swinging the davit over the port side, to lift the scooter off the dock. Get it about 6-8 feet high, then swing it around directly behind the boat, then try hooking the line and pulling it about 8 feet inward, to the the floor of the Sun Deck.
I can walk short distances without any assistance, but once I irritate my lower back, I am done for the day. Ayala Cove is my dream spot. Pull up to the dock in the daytime, use
the davit to take the scooter off, then ride it. When tired, I get off, climb on board and lift it back to the Sun Deck. Not ideal, but possible.
OR I might try storing it on the roof of the Sun Deck. Tollycraft is quick to state this area is not reinforced enough for people to walk on, etc. But it has a 4 inch pipe on the port side. Putting a similar support on the stbd side might be enough to make it useable. Our 10'6" Caribe hard bottom, with Honda 9.9 hp 4 stroke, has ridden there for years.
The reason I am typing at 1:04am is because the pain in my lower back is more than the pain meds can handle. Instead of taking more and more drugs, I choose to come in here and search on the internet.
As I said, Ayala Cove is my favorite spot right now. Cool in the daytime and real nice at night. Anyone remember what the maximum size is for docking there? We are 44 ft.
Thanks -- Dave
