Brewers has sold !

All things come to an end, it might be a good thing in the end. Who knows.

It sounds like a merger, not a sale.

I wish they would take over Haverstraw Marina.

Having been part of many "mergers" this is typical wording. Often times the acquiring company brings on some of the high level team (including owner)form the acquired company but usually it is for a limited time (under contract) until the new company fully understands the business. This sounds like the case here.

I believe Brewers has looked into taking over Haverstraw. The issue was/is that the marina does not own the land, it is on a long term lease from the town. For that reason they did not continue discussions.

I was planning to move my boat to Haverstraw this summer.

Can you tell me a little about their problems?

Joe

Joe, last season was our first there. The main problem is that the Town owns the marina and leases it out, so the person who runs it has very little motivation to invest any money in it. They have no problem charging top dollar for slips.

The staff is great, but the infrastructure is lacking. There are many power posts that have lights out, that are never replaced. A number of electrical outlets are worn out and should be replaced (if you want 50 amp and they presently have 30 amp, you have to pay over $200 to get the outlet changed.

There are no security cameras (which would have helped when my dinghy motor got stolen last summer).

The bathrooms are a disaster!

On a positive note, there is deep, calm water, the dock hands are great and we have a lot of friends there. I went from a marina where I couldn't get in or out for at least two hours on each side of low tide - not having to worry about that anymore is a great improvement.

Thanks

I met them manager in December and he seemed decent enough. Actually at less than 3 grand for a 30 foot boat that is not too bad.

But I will check the outlet before I pony up.

No cameras is bad.

We are residents at Brewers Dauntless in Essex and they are telling us that nothing will change. There is an on-site brewers meeting next week to answer any questions but unfortunately we will be away.

They are doing a fantastic job cleaning up the
"Island".
We are very optimistic that quality and care will not decline.

Tom,
I truly hope ur right . The company that bought them out does not have Service .. They are marina mangers only.... That's what scares us .
