Bridges heading west under wantagh

Traveling with a group of boats to NYC. Hope to go outside thru Jones inlet but may stay inside.

What is deal with wantagh bridges?

Any trouble spots heading west that way on the inside?

I am not the tallest boat but may have the biggest draft.

State channel through the Sloop Channel Bridge is good for you guys. You know the drill, stay in the channel etc... As I remember, the channel as you get near the inlet gets a little confusing with all the different buoys from the three channels coming together, but there is plenty of water. Go out Jones inlet. Reynolds Channel is all 5 mph. I was boarded by the Coast Guard for doing 10 mph and a little wake in March. Have a great time. Next year Marie and I are with you.

Lowest bridge is the wantagh just after zachs bay. The same drill with the tender handling all three.

As to Jones inlet, stay closer to the greens to stbd on the way out. The marked channel appears wide but the breakers encroach from the eastern jetty.
 
Do we have to be bridge opened? What is clearance closed?
 
Continuing inside. I don't know if the LB road bridge is functioning. The rr bridge is. The Atlantic Beach bridge is on a schedule.

Be careful in sea dog creek, especially where it intersects with reynolds channel. It is narrower and shallower than last year before sandy.
 
Not sure now that I dont have a bridge. I did fit under with viking at below mid tide with antennas down (barely).

Check with John if he went that way for the tournament.
 
I had the Wantagh opened when I went that way, I think it's 20' but that's in the center and it arches quite a bit. When I had the soft top I fit under it but with the new hardtop and radar on top don't think I'd make it even with the outriggers down. I doubt Walter would clear it if he's going. Call a little ahead of time as he'll have to drive over from the Meadowbrook if he isn't already there.

The Meadowbrook bridge is 28', you should all be good there. No issues with water depth along the way.

The marked channel through Jones Inlet is pretty wide but I saw some pretty shallow water through there. I'd time it for incoming tide if the ocean is rough at all.
