I have a Searay 370EC, was shrinkwrapped all winter, when uncovered, the middle portion of the windshield was shattered, still in the frame. Nothing hit it, no puncture. About 3x3 in size, tempered glass, somewhat curved. $8500.00to replace, yes, that decimal is in the right place. Any ideas? Have a glass shop guy looking at it tomorrow.

And all this time, you thought that breaking a mirror was bad luck!
if its perfectly flat you can replace that panel. it is just tempered glass. if it is curved at all, it is likely made by Taylor and is available only thru your searay dealer. it sounds like they are qouting you the entire windscreen rather than just the section you need. if you price the parts directly with taylor it will likely be way more than thru the dealer. most mfg's have a deal with taylor to force you to purchase the goods back thru the dealer network. talk about anti competitive trade!
A possibilty is lexan. I broke the center panel on a bow rider years ago. Dealer wanted $900. So I cut a sheet of 1/4 inch clear lexan from the Home Depot to fit. The color wasn't a perfect match, the real glass was tinted but you had to be at the right angle to see it. The original piece was sligtly curved, I used a hair dryer and muscle to make the bend.
I would not do this to a pristine new boat, it's a little cheesy. But I planned to just do it until the season ended, and I just left it that way. You could do it while you search out a replacement. A $25 temp fix.

My old FW bowrider uses tempered glass but it is very slightly curved...so I could not just have a glass shop cut me a plece of tempered glass. I contacted Four Winns and they told me the OE supplier was Water Bonnet in Fla. I contacted them was able to buy both the center piece and the left side windshield for about $125 each and installed them myself...
