Brookhaven Pumpout Boat

I've recently saw a pumpout boat over at watch hill pumping out a few of the boats.

Anyone know the deal with this and how to reach them?
 
You can hale them via VHF on channel #73 on Friday thru Sunday. The service is free of charge, but tips are accepted. I use them each weekend over at Davis.
 
do they really care what town you are from or are they like the south hampton boat?
 
Maybe Gary can comment since he used them before but I would not think they care what town your from but where you are with the boat.

I'm not from Brookhaven and they had no problem giving me a pumpout at Watch Hill last Sunday. The guy said give them a call on 73 anytime I'm in that area.
 
The service is provided to any boat regardless of home port. They record either State Reg #, or documentation name along with the estimaed gallons to be pumped.
 
When we were at Fishers Island, they do not have a local pump-out boat; I guess he has to come from CT or Orient Point. So we made an appointment for a specific time with the Dock Master, 5:30PM. It was a new process for them so as the Dock Master said, “we have to work out the kinks”. The PO guy took down, boat name/ model, address etc. Then he wanted an estimate on how much waste in gallons I had….. what! uhh…, did not hit the half way is all I know… Ok.. I will let you know… 8 gallons sir….. He said they are required to document that. I held back the question on his estimate of solid to liquid ratio. At other places they may note the boat name / reg # but normally pump and go.

I usually tip 10 bucks, especially if I am going to return a few times. High / Low ?
 
Brad, I tipped the guys $10 Sunday also and someone mentioned that was probably more than necessary. I always figure that's not the most pleasant water related job so try to take care of them. Then again someone commented that they were probably Brookhaven employees making double time for working on a Sunday :D
