Building Starfish 26... First sail!!

Thanks guys, yes we ll be on a mooring at CGSC. For tonight she's tied behind the hatt , my port side neighbor is a sailor and doesn't mind the boat sitting out behind his trawler. :)

No coins under the mast, I m not big on superstitions but they will be a few Bahamian starfish pennies here and there in the trim,

Oh, and we used Exumas sand for the non skid, mixed in the traditional Kirby paint.

Are you really going to let all that pretty brightwork weather in the FL sun?
 
Yes... It will be in the Florida sun but it s not varnish or regular bright work, it's clear Awlgrip over eopxy :)

It s been an interesting project, it was very nice to finally see her in the water with the mast up and get a good look at the lines, the proportion, etc.. As really the whole time in the backyard I could never get the big pictures because of trees, etc... This type of boat is not everyone's cup of tea but she came out pretty much like what I had in mind when I started

Can't wait for the sea trial next week!

Nice job, she a good looking boat and I don't even like sail boat:) This was quite the undertaking and accomplishment!
 
Just moved her to a Coconut Grove Sailing Club mooring...

Wow Pascal - she's a beauty. My first boating was in a 1942 Chris Craft runabout - looking at your sailboat, I can smell the wood!

Worked on the rigging yesterday, stays are done, boom gaff and mainsail is place, hoops are attached... Actually raised the main last night to make sure it was set up right. It's a little more complex on a gaffer as there are two halyards (the lines that raise the sail), one along the mast to raise the gaff and one to lift the gaff at its angle

Working on sheets and other part of rigging today... Getting close to sea trial!!
 
I made a removable tabernacle hopping that two of us could raise it but it was wishful thinking... Ended up hiring a crane who luckily was available to come right away to the ramp before launch...
