After talking to a few brokers on purchasing a boat, there's one that has offered to be my "buyer's broker". He says he'll do the leg work, negociate the deal, arrange any shipping and a surveyor, be at the survey/sea trial, etc. All this doesn't cost me a buck since the seller pays the commission.

I understand RE agents have an agreement where the listing agent shares commission with the selling agent but I didn't know this exists with boat brokers.

Has anyone heard of this?

Personally, I know exactly what I want, I'll most likely take her home by water and obviously I already have a surveyor I can trust.

Should I let this guy do his thing and arrange the deal or could I get a better deal on my own knowing the selling agent doesn't have to split commission.

OR...perhaps the selling agent is happy to split his commission with someone who brings in a qualified buyer and does all the leg-work with the seller.

I'm curious if anyone has heard of this arrangement.
