Anyone know the hours of operation and the cost of diesel at Summit North and Schaeffer's? Are there any other diesel stop in the upper bay near the C&D that are better? Thanks in advance.

The last 2 times we bought up there, we were south bound, and ran into Bohemia at Bo Bay Marina. Cost was one of the best on the bay. We were running from Wildwood to home ( Annapolis)

Summit North diesel was $2.65 this weekend. I believe Schaeffer's is no longer pumping fuel, but not sure. Bohemia Bay Yacht Harbor at the mouth of the Bohemia River is also an option. Used to be cheap fuel, not that they were taken over by Clark's Landing, fuel prices have gone up.

I keep my boat at Bohemia Bay, diesel this weekend was 2.389, compared to 3.659 at Skipjack Cove. Quite a difference. Clarks Landing sells boats there out of a brokerage office but I can assure you the Marina is a Condominium Association and is NOT owned or operated by Clark's Landing.

Anyone have a phone number for Schaeffer's? Bo Bay is $2.38 and Summit is $2.55 (at least as of 1:30). Going from Skipjack Cove to Toms River and I would like to get fuel on the C&D rather than pull in the Bohemia. Thanks in advance.

I don't think they have a phone at Schaeffer's these days. The place has been under very slow renovation for the last two years. They tried to pump fuel last season but the docks are still in bad shape and nobody seems to care much about the no wake zone.

Maybe they're trying to pump fuel again this year, but last time I passed by it (about two weeks ago), there was noone there. Summit North seems to be the only relaible fuel option on the C&D. They will also give you 5 cents off for over 100 gal. As an aside, I assume you have empty tanks and don't want to fill up in Georgetown. Otherwise, an average cruiser should have plenty of fuel to get you from Skipjack to Cape May, NJ. Top off in Cape May and you're good to go to Toms River.

Did you check the price of full at Duffy's? They are often less expensive that either Skipjack or Georgetown.

Thanks all ..Sounds like its Summit as its on the way and if we get underway by 7:00 we will arrive about when the fuel dock is opening. Now, if the weather cooperates!!

Most fuel docks do not open until May 1st. This must be fuel from last year, road diesel at Kent Narrows in $2.11 this morning how in $%&*( world can the marine diesel be more????

Dom....same issue here in NJ.....road diesel this morning was $2.05. Marine, non-taxed, off road diesel, locally was $2.39. I get my diesel delivered to my dock and usualy pay the street price...give or take a few pennies.

Frank.....Good luck with your re-turn trip up the Barnegat Bay tomorrow!!!!

Frank,

Looks like you will be docked at our marina this weekend. Looking forward to meeting you. I am at dock 9.

I filled up at Annapolis Yacht Basin today for $1.99 Dieseland they are not know to be a cheap gas station and no discounts there other then volume.

Dominic,

When do you start your trip south? We just got to Vero Beach, FL and will probably head to Stuart tomorrow. Might try and cross over to the Abacos later this week.

I trailered down with the tanks a little below 1/4, so tomorrow morning I'll see what they're charging down here for gas. Diesel on the road from MD to FL ranged from $1.99 to $2.49. Either is a heck of a lot better than last year at this time when we filled the truck up at nearly $5/gallon. Heck, the pumps shut off at $75 so I had to always do at least two transactions.

Here's fuel down in FL:
