I'm getting tired of not being able to work on my old Chris Craft because of the cold. My list of projects is only one-quarter done.

Right now, I'm thinking Block at the end of June... that's always a great month. Say hello to Cliff at at Paine's and relax for a week or so. Get some sun and forget the winter.

What are you guys doing?

Bill

Aruba in a few weeks..........yea baby!

Thinking about Montauk and Sag and Block and Mystic and Hamberg Cove and The Vineyard and Essex and Newport and Greenport and Watch Hill and Wickford....not a bad place to boat. One year went to Coecles, rented a bike at the marina there and rode around the island. Want to do that again.

We hope to do Block, will definatley do Greenport and Mystic hope to do Newport and of course be in Hamburg Cove. Spike, how does the Chap do in the sound? Last year we went to Mystic in 5 footers. It wasnt much fun.

Spike,
If/when you go to Wickford (RI), let me know. That's my "home turf". We'll probably be up there for 4 th of July week, and we usually take another week in August or early Sept.

Got the good news in the mail this week..Brewers Dauntless in Essex will start putting boats in Mid March...I'm shooting for early April...may not get out much (wind, rain, cold)but if it breaks above 50 degrees with less than 10mph wind I'm on the water. Need to take the Admiral to SAG and Montauk this season and a few days at Block... Not sure why but to me this was the worst winter for Cabin / Boating fever and need to get out...went to Essex this past weekend and got on the boat, it's in a decent spot to be launched quick, can't be soon enough.

Hey Joe
Do they keep the docks in all year in Essex. I stay at Deep River. Havent been there yet this year and not sure when the docks go in. Hopfully I will be in May 1st. Thats still too long of a wait. This winter does seem longer even though its been mild, but thats probably why.

Brian - Chap handles great - still need to watch it out there with that sized boat. Especially BI Sound. We should raft in Hamberg Cove.

Ches - will do. We love Wickford - artsy fartsy - and nice people.

Joe - know what you mean. We plan on going to Essex this weekend to look at the Eagles and maybe a drink at the Black Seal. Surprised we haven't seen one another - but there are so many white express cruisers. Thought I saw you at the ACBS show cruising by Aphrodite.

Cheers!

Have a great Aruba trip Spike! I'm envious of all your harbors down there along the Sound but I'm trying to put together a run to see the fireworks on the 4th off Manhatten so if that comes together, some stops along the south coast will be in order. Remember, you've still got that standing invitation to dodge lobster pots along the Maine coast too!
Cheers -
RB

Spike, where are you staying in Aruba? We were there for our 20th time this past January. If you need any tips, let me know.

Vista...they have the main docs in but pull the gangways and have the docks tied off to the pileings...the center area has some boats in all winter with bubblers so those docks have access. They had a set of all new docks sitting in the middle of our fairway...I don't know which ones they will be replacing but it won't take them long. There was a decent amount of ice still.

Spike, looks like a nice weekend for Essex, was a bit cold last Sunday (but still enjoyed a drink and a stuffed clam at the Seal!!). That was definitely us cruising slow past Aphrodite, took a ton of pictures...I did not see any other 318's on the river this year but one of our dock mates is taking delivery on one this May so there will at least be two...think they are going with two tone though. I'll keep a look out for you, be nice to say hi. Enjoy your trip!!
