I have a 1997 350 Mariner and am "remodeling" the entertainment center area of the salon. I would like to find a piece of the same plywood and edging that is used for the cabinets in the galley - a piece about 3' x 5' to make one big cabinet door. I'm not certain if they had different color schemes available, but my cabinets are a light maplelike color - very smooth - almost glossy. Any ideas? I know what I buy today won't match exactly anyway because of fading - but I'd like to get as close as I can. The majority of it will be covered by an LCD TV mounted to it anyway.

Good luck with your remodeling project. Finding exact matches will be quite difficult I would imagine, especially to match that maple, unless something is available from Carver for repairs.

Has anyone else out there done this type of work?

The problem with any natural wood in boats is that it ages with the sunlight. Even on boats of a year old or so, ordering a new door for someone is quite a task. Send Carver a piece that is close to it geographically, and they'll match it (usually very well). That said, the whitewashed maple yellows quite a bit from it's original factory color.

Will you take pictures and post them when your done with your project? We have thought about doing the same thing.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks
