Camera's

I picked up a DCS5222L I just set it up seems to work pretty nice in my house while it is plugged into the router directly I'm looking forward to putting it on the boat once I launch in a few weeks.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I can't get the email notifications to work? I checked the setting again and again but no luck! It is detecting motion but not acting on it. I haven't seen anything in the manual but I'm thinking it may need a memory card to make this work? If anyone has any thoughts please let me know. Thank you

May be a port forward problem, think not because you are using a DNS server to relay this. When I get mine will let you know whats up. I just give it to my techs and tell them to make it work :) Fun stuff!
 
I got it working the instruction are not up to date with the firmware I spent some time on the phone with tech support and on the model camera I bought they buried change the location of the SMPT setting it works well now
 
Sorry I just saw this ... Glad its resolved.

there are two screens for settings .one is in the app which is limited . But if u type in the IP address of the camera at the boat u get a ton more options .

Yes I have been through every setting on this unit! The problem is the on line manual was not correct for the newest model camera and the phone tech support was just reading from the screen and reciting the same thing I was reading online. Once she realized I wasn't an idiot she looked into it and came up with the answers I was looking for. I have since picked up a 32 Gig SD card and set it to record when it detects motion I also programmed it to email me three still shots so I know if someone entered my boat. At the moment it is still in my house so I had to turn off the emails it was filling my mailbox.
Very happy with this for the boat, it is no substitute for a real DVR/NVR system but for the boat it is great!
 
I did same . I have the non pan tilt pointed in the cabin at the cabin door . and the pan tilt in the cockpit at the zipper .

All set to notify. I turned down the sensitivity and I think I got it dialed in. I also had issues at first with the email.

I added a third cam on the dash just for giggles. IT takes great pics. I can log in and pan the entire marina... for the price you cant go wrong....

Im liking the microphone feature too . I can hear when my canvas is flapping

So this camera system works only when within reach of decent wifi signal, correct? Which at our marina, won't reach my boat...or does it go through a system router from the camera company to view?

You need internet access for it to work. Many of us have internet either from the marina or by using a WiFi antenna or cellular MiFi I have a Rogue Wave antenna which provides access to Optimum hotspots in the area and I have been very happy with how it works. I'm looking forward to installing the camera on board as soon as I launch.
 
I bought one of these and it was very easy to set up and works great. I setup it up in the house for now, does anyone know how I will switch it to the clubs wifi when I move it to the boat? In the initial setup I plugged it into my home router, I won't be able to do that at the club unless I climb a pole :)

You have a few options if you know the SSID of your club your can go into the setting and manually enter the info. You should also be able to use a crossover cable and plug a laptop into it while you are at the club and use the menu to find the club WIFI and entry the key. The third would be to bring a router with you to the boat this would allow you to access the camera using the local IP in all of the methods mentioned and once again use the menu to find and enroll the camera on the club network. If you use a cross over cable you will need to put a static IP in your laptop is the same range as is currently in the camera.

I hope this helped if not I can try to get more specific if need be.

I set mine up at home as well and hope to be in my slip next week so I will have to do the same. I have a network on my boat so I have the advantage of being able to just plug it in and then configure it for WiFi or I may just run a cat5 which would not be a big deal.

Looks much nicer with just the power cord. Plus I have to take mine down when under way ....

I have one facing the aft cockpit door and one face out the helm windshield. I get some really nice sunsets . Only the one facing the stern is set to alert. I cant believe how well it works .

Where min is going (inside the boat) the base will be hidden so it won't matter. I plan to launch next week sometime I will install once I'm at my dock with power.
 
I hooked one up today. Doesn't get much simpler than that. It's in the house now but will move to boat.

Are any of these cameras weatherproof?
I'm looking for an outdoor wireless weatherproof camera that I can view remotely on either my iphone or via the internet when I'm not around.
 
I'm curious too. I'd love to have one mounted in the front of my house. It actually sounds simple enough to set up even for me!
 
They make an outdoor model for a few more bucks. I don't know about the PTZ version it may just be a housing that you install the standard camera into, I have had asome trouble getting a straight answer to this.
 
My camera is working great no issue programming it on the boat to my WiFi. Unfortunately my TV is not working as well it has a mind of it's on and turns on all by it's self when I'm not around I need to unplug it as you can tell I forgot yesterday. Oddly my DVR seems to be working better this year then in the past giving me easier access to the other three cameras as well.

Been logging in to the boat cams to see see whats going on with this wind. Saves me a trip in this crap . These things are priceless. Not happy with what I see but atleast im not hitting anything .
