The connectors on NEMA 2000 cables are pretty big and I would much rather drill small holes, especially in my transom. Specifically, I am installing a GPS antenna and an ep-25 speed sensor (paddle wheel). I called Lowrance, and surprise, surprise, was told they don't recommend cutting cables. I was not, however, talking to an engineer. Just someone parroting language with no rationale. If I were to cut and splice, would I introduce a noticeable error? I can't imagine the voltage drop or resistance increase across a good splice would be significant, but who knows? Thanks for the help.
