canvas cleaning

Thanks Eric. I have gone over the zippers and looked pretty close and could not see a point where it would have the chance to leak. (The flap for the zipper covers it pretty good. It would take a driving rain to get back up under the flap but maybe that IS happening.) I'll try the hose after the second coat. Is there any problem with putting on TOO MUCH? I would hate to damage the canvas with the product I am trying to use to protect it and it in turn my boat.

I don't think there will be any problems with successive coats so long as you don't saturate the fabric. Sunbrella recommends two coats as the standard. If you have less than that then weeping would be expected. The fabric should be clean before applying the Fabric Guard.
 
Yep, I cleaned it before I applied the first coat. I will put on the second coat this weekend and see how that does. I didn't saturate the first coat but I think I put on more than enough. I guess not. I remember in the old days there was some kind of coating that the Army used on their canvas tents and in all of my time in the field with minimal maintenance I only had one leak on me. Wish I knew what that stuff was and where to get it! Thanks.
