Anyone have a shop they recommend for custom canvas work?

I'm starting to look for someone that can make a camper back for my boat. There was no OEM option, so it will have be all custom.

I'm on the north shore; boat is in Port Jeff area. There is a local shop that I've used for repairs that came out ok, not great.. He did some work for a friend's boat, but he was not thrilled with the design and results.

Harry Parker and Son.

1) Expensive but will negotiate.
2) Does excellent work.
3) Job will be delivered when promised not 6 months later like many canvas shops.
4) FWIW, they are actually really decent people.

I have been unhappy with most of the North shore shops

we moved the boat out east a couple of years ago and have used:

Wm. J. Mills & Co in Greenport,

not cheap but very good
they make the OEM stuff for Boston Whaler

If you want to travel down to Copaigue I very highly reccomend AMC Canvas on Montauk Highway. Have had work done there as have some of my friends. They are fast, great quality and very reasonable.

Another vote for AMC Canvas. I have been using Tony and Frank for over 10 years and have never been disapointed.

+1

It's been a while but I had AMC create a custom helm cover and some cushions for my Proline and they did a great job creating something out of nothing so it looked factory.

Will these canvas guys like AMC travel to the boat to take measurements, etc? I haven't done any custom work before and I'm not sure how they work.

I don't mind going to the south shore for good quality work but getting the boat down there would be a major challenge.

Another vote...they did a custom canvas two boats ago (Crownline 250CR). Great job....good price and on time (delivered to my house)

They did travel to my boat to measure and install, but I was in Lindenhurst at the time. Dont know what they're range is but I would ask them.

AMC did the camper back and side enclosures on our Chaparral. Excellent work, fair prices, and on schedule. Call to see if they'll measure. My guess is they will. Hy

AMC is great. They've done a couple of things for me over the last few years and I was always happy with the work and their prices.
Now is probably a good time to get them. Pretty soon they might be getting busy again.

They travel.
Tony from AMC did my old boat and one before that.
I ran into him at Westhampton once doing an enclosure out there!

AMC gets my vote . Always stand behind their products !

I have used AMC for all my work and would use them again. I mostly delt with Tony more than Frank. Good luck.

Frank from AMC created a new canvas setup for me last year, and I couldn't be happier. The price was great, it was ready when he said it would be, and the final product was better than I expected...not to mention that Frank was a pleasure to work with.

There's a reason my post is one of many recommending AMC.
