On my Carver 370 the forward AC unit draws power from the main 115 volt panel not the Air Conditioner panel.
The switch for the forward unit works but if I turn the Air Conditioner main switch off it still is powered up. I have looked at the panel and it would be easy to re wire.
Now did the factory wire it this way?
Should I re-wire to have all of the AC units draw from one source.

PJ, it sounds like to me that the PO re-wired it that way to possibly run the air conditioner off of the main power panel only. (only had access to 1 30 amp power)??? Verify everything first, then re-wire back to original!

I am considering doing that to mine. Three ACs on one power line is a bit much and the other is lightly loaded since we never use the oven. I think a balanced load would be better for the genny as well.

I'm not an electrician but I'm guessing there's no difference (as far as the genset is concerned) if one line is pulling 25 amps and the other is only pulling 5 amps. The genset only sees a need to provide 30 amps. There's no need to "balance the load"

since the regulator is commonly only in one side all the load on one side may produce unbalanced voltages and lower than necessary voltage on the high current side

Mine is wired the same way from factory. Front ac unit gets power from main panel.

Toronto, thanks I had a hunch that it was factory. I will leave it as it is.

thanks all for the info

My 98 355 ACMY is wired with both Air Conditioning units on the #2 Main AC (12000 & 16000 BTU) and everything else on the #1 AC Main.

My 370 is the exact same way. If I shut down the Air Conditioning panel the forward unit will still work off the other panel.
