Does anyone have a phone number for customer service? I need to to find out the gel coat color used for my boat. I'm having a swim platform made and I want it to match the best it can. If the company was local they would do it by eye but this is not an option.
If you have a number or if you now how I can look up this info I would appreciate the info.

Thanks

I always call the number shown on the Carver yachts web site. The guy I talk to is Rich Brown. he has always been more than helpful and has been able to answer any questions I have ever had about my '87 Voyager.

Bob

I have been able to get an exact match from the vendor that is listed on the carver web site. That vendor is Spectrum Color. They apparently are updating their website online ordering so you will need to call them.
website is http://www.spectrumcolor.com/
All they need is the year and model. They provide a perfect match.

Thanks I called Spectrumcolor they looked it up in about two minutes and said there was only one color for Trojan from 95-01 and they have it in stock.
I called to platform company he told me that is where he buys his paint so I'm all set.

Thanks again for the help.

Now it's a waiting game.

For the record this advice alone was well worth the cost of an anchor. I have been stressing over this for a week and now it problem solved.

Hi Dave
Just curious, what platform you decided on? Fixed or hydraulic?

I'm still looking hard at the 440 Express. The 96/97 models are less expensive, however few have platforms.

Thanks.

I went with the fixed platform to save about $20,000 I meets my needs. I love my boat there are very few differences from year to year on the boat the big ones are the motors and the Cherry wood interior. I have found the Cats to be great and very economical. As for the maple I like it the light color makes it feel a little more open but I only have the two stateroom so it is a little more open. I have been upgrading the few things that seems a little dated on the boat and I'm happy with the out come. Check out my thread on Dash Labels and see the work I did on my helm. The platform should be in soon and I can't wait to get it installed. I'm hoping to be in by 3rd week of April. If you find the right boat I'm sure you would be happy with it.

Mike, do you feel like your cherry wood makes your saloon feel closed in? I actually think the natural cherry wood in my boat makes it feel open warm and very rich looking but then again I am very fond of cherry wood.

Bob I love the look of cherry wood it looks rich but IMO the use of darker color in small areas make the area feel smaller. This is not limited to boats but homes and offices as well. Don't mistake this as a knock I think all of the Trojans look great and I would not say no to anyone of them. I'm just pointing out the differences between the years. These boats are large enough not to feel closed in. What I said was " As for the maple I like it the light color makes it feel a little more open". The point of this is not to knock newer models but to make it clear that if someone can find a good deal on a 96 or 97 I wouldn't and I didn't turn my nose up and say I want a newer model. So far I have been very happy with my boat except maybe the bottom paint, that should be corrected in a week or so.

In our case a hydraulic platform is one of the goals for moving up.

Sometimes my wife will take the grand kids riding around the marina when I'm at work. This requires me to go to the marina launch the dinghy, then go back another time to stow it. With a hydraulic platform she can float it off and stow it.

I'm looking all the angles. 96/97 models are less expensive, the difference goes away quickly when you add items like boom cranes and platforms.

Just received a quote for a hydraulic platform. You are right on about the cost.

I have the Davit on my boat it still a lot of work to launch a dink. The dink I have is not very large and it still doesn't fit in the garage fully inflated. I release most of the air to store when I launch I lift and inflate in the air then swing it out. After the dink is in the water I hoist the motor and lower it on. I can do it solo but there is no way my wife would be able. I'm sure that this platform is going to make this process more difficult but I have a few ideas that I think will worked out OK. The hydraulic platform added $20,000 to the price. From what I have heard they are problematic and very costly to maintain and repair, but very nice when they work. I would have loved to swing it but just seemed very hard to justify spending almost as much for a platform as I did on my last boat. I would think you will have a hard time finding a 96/97 with a hydraulic platform but if you do there is a good chance the boat will be well cared for anyone who spends that kind of money should be able to afford to maintain it.

The boat is so damn big inside, you could paint it black and it wouldn't feel 'closed in'.

JK, if you want to compare 3 different model years, make your way to Stony Point and you can see Audrey II, Starry Night, and Hogan. It's interesting to see the differences.

Read my post I didn't say closed in, Bob did. I said a little more open that is a far cry from closed in. I happen to love Cherry wood they didn't offer it in 96 what I have noticed is lighter coolers feel more open. This doesn't mean I wouldn't like to have Cherry wood. As I said it adds a rich look to the boat.
Mike give it time the boat shrinks the longer you own it, another year or two you will want bigger the old 2 foot itis. That is why I'm adding 4 feet. LOL

So....to put this matter to bed, Dave, will you pledge to replace that Maple interior with Cherrywood??? Ha Ha, sorry, couldn't resist!

Anyway, I agree with everything you said about the trunk storage. I hope my dinghy will fit in the trunk deflated, it's a RIB.

If you have some type of chocks to set the boat on the platform, would it be easier for you to install the motor? After that, can the crane rotate and launch the dinghy beyond the side of the platform?

If the crane could launch around a fixed platform, I might rethink the need for the hydraulics.

Hogan
Thanks for the invitation. First I want to inspect the boat that's local after the shrinkwrap is off. Then I will have many more questions.

I will get right on the Cherry wood. As for the RIB fitting deflated in the garage mine is 10' with a wood floor and it fits tight but fits with room for the motor. Yes with chocks it would be easy to add install the motor on the platform. I'm not sure about the davit swinging far enought to the side with the platform there I will know the answer soon. if it doesn"t I will make some light weight rail or slide to launch. I'll make it work. My plan would be to use this slide as the chock to install the motor as well.
