My platform is in need of a rebuild on my 1986 Carver 2897. I would like a teak platform but I am WAY to cheap to have one built. I have found one from a 2896. Has anyone on here ever tried to take a platform from the previous generation? The beam is about 6" less but it appears to me that the curve would work with little modification.

Thanks for any insight.

Color and nonskid pattern would also be quite diffent...not sure about the transom arch as I don't think the 2896 had much of one

Kenny,

It was a teak platform, but it was bid higher than I was willing to pay. Staying as is for this season! I am a big guy and it is still sturdy, I just know it is getting some soft spots at the mount locations and will need re-cored eventually.

Thanks,

Jim
