If you get the serial numbers Cat can give you any info on upgrades or warranty work done. Cat has a good rep for fixing stuff under warranty and you want to make sure whatever necessary was done.
I know two owners. They basically seem to be good engines. Lots of parts and experienced mechanics everywhere. As with all diesels proper propping for rated WOT max RPM is critical.

This are good motors but they like many have had some issue in the past. I have them in my boat as well, these motors come in a few configurations both turbo and not. The none turbo may be somewhere around 290-350 HP the turbo like I have are 420 HP. One of my concerns with the boat you are considering is the lack of hours 250 hours on a 15 year old boat may actually be worse then say 1000 hours. Diesel motors like to be run it is not good to have them sit too long!
Have them checked out and as Bruce said get the serial numbers and check with Cat make sure the motors have a good history I suspect they may not have any history based on the hours.
