Was out at Montauk this past week and the boat next to me had just returned from Block. He said Champlins is charging $5.50 a foot plus $25 per person per night plus electricity. WOW!!!!

WOW is right. If I had to pay those rates, I could not afford boating. I pay less than $0.15 per day per foot to store my boat at my marina. Boat is on a trailer and is put in unlimited times throught the season. I guess if boaters are willing to pay their fees, then there is no problem.

I'm at Champlins as I type this and they are NOT charging $5.50 a foot.

30 ft and under
$4.00 per ft per night

31 - 45 ft
$4.25 per ft per night

46 - 60 ft
$4.50 per ft per night

61 - 75 ft
$4.75 per ft per night

76 - 90 ft
$4.75 per ft per night

91 ft and over
$4.75 per ft per night

Still pricey but not as insane as the prices in Essex and Montauk.

And the electric rate is NOT per person. Someone is feeding you BS. ;)

We were there last week, and rommer has listed the correct prices. Montauk Yacht club is a bit more!

"Was out at Montauk this past week"

Where were you and how much did they charge? Probably some pretty close! I'll be there in a few weeks somethings are just worth paying for! No, not sex:)

Dave, Montauk was $5.50/ft, plus $15 "resort fee", plus $35/day electric. As a Marina Life member, you get electric for $17.50/day.

Was at Block for the 7/4 week. On a mooring $40 a night. Best deal in town. Of course anchoring is free!!

When we go to Montauk we stay at Montauk Marine Basin. 31' boat $3.50/ft, $12.50 electric. You can walk to several retaurants & bars. Of course no pool of conceierge service.

You couldn't pay me to stay at champlin's!

Dump the Chump!

Dave, I know you had a bad experience, but we just spent five nights there and it couldn't have been better. The staff is attentive and professional. We did discover that my wife makes better mudslides than the tiki bar does - they use a machine with pre-made drinks.

Could care less Mike.
I am sure on non-holiday weekends it's not a bad place.
But the way they treat people on the holiday weekends is wrong.
They don't know the meaning of the words, "sorry, we are full".
The crap they pulled and I am not just talking about my scratch.
There were other damaged boats.
People tripping on cords.
People walking into anchors hanging over bows.
Then the scam where you reserve 30amp and are told, there is no 30 amp left, so to dock you have to buy an adapter from them for $350. No, we can lend you one because we f'ed up.
The place is run to make maximum money and customer service is not even considered.

Dump the Chump.
When I go back to block, I will be at the Boat Basin!

Now Mike,

If I asked you 10 years ago about staying at Champlin's what would you have told me???

I remember how I always tried you to get you to go there............

I agree it is the best place to stay at Block.

Never stayed there and never will. The best mudslides is at Liars in Montauk.

Forgot to mention I was at the Marine Basin in Montauk for $3.50 a foot no frills but floating dock and most is within walking distance.

Jonathan, I remember it well, but it was probably more like 15 - 20 years ago! We used to love to anchor, no kids, no dog...

How clear is the water at Block these days?

Yep! Are you heading out there this summer?

Nope,

Dock Mary this summer. Kids are at camp, beautiful beach is 4 blocks walking distance away and we are having a great time at the Channel Club.

Some fishing and playing on the Boston Whaler.

How times have changed!!! I remember you dragging us out to Croton on Friday nights to stay the entire weekend.
