Changing controls?

I have a 3270 1983 BAYLINER with mechanical controls. I would like to change from a 2 lever system to a single lever system. I have 4 cycl Volvos. Can I change only the bridge and leave the lower helm as is? What is involved?

This is a good question! I don't know if the linkage set-up would work. I have never seen it done.
