I have a new (last summer) Lowrance 7600 HD chartplotter, that generally, I have been very pleased with. It has worked perfectly.
This past week I was in Bimini and it was telling me I was on land (South Bimini) as I was going up the channel to Big Game Marina. Back in Ft. Lauderdale it was dead on. Is this a datum issue? It is set to wgs84 (default). Or, is this just bad original chart data from the Bahamas. I've heard that the original surveys there are a little "casual" The plotter was telling me I was about 300-400 yards East of my actual position. Although watching boats go aground in the channel is a full time activity..Thanks for the help.
