I am interested in purchasing a chartplotter/bottom sonar system and would like some input. My boat is a Cruisers Yachts 3375 and it is only used on Grand Lake which has 46,500 surface acres of water and 1300 miles of shoreline.

I dont think radar is of much use on the lake although quite a few boats have them.
1. Is a built in gps unit better or worse than a remote gps?
2. How does the fuel consumption portion work?
3. With the color displays can you really see them in bright sunlight? This is Oklahoma and its hot and humid and bright!!
4. DO you feel that radar is a useful thing on a lake this size? The only way I think it might be is if I was going to be out at night a lot.
5. Are there certain units you recomend or avoid? I usually do not buy the top of the line stuff but I usually purchase the average to above average stuff. Meaning I dont want crap but I also dont want the gold plated stuff either.

Thanks!!
