Fellow Boaters,
I was notified Monday morning by the AYC Office that the security guard at the AYC during his patrol on Sunday night (12-9-07) observed several teens aboard my boat. The security guard couldn't catch them and the teens did get away. Suffolk PD responded Sunday night and took a report. After going down to my boat on Monday I discovered no major damage, luckily. The teens did show signs of using my boat for definitely more then one night. The boat was shrinked wrapped but did have a shrink wrap zipper door so I could get easy access in the spring. My bad I guess.
The cockpit seats were covered and stained in ashes and some sort of liquid (beer?). After cleaning the seats I then found out that these teens decided to use every storage spot in the cockpit for their ashes and garbage. They also were nice enough to take my fire extinguisher. Total cost so far: several yellow burn marks from what appears to be lit cigarettes on the fiberglass, 3 hours of cleaning and shrink wrap repairs( I guess the kids needed to vent the smoke so they proceeded to put several rips and holes in my shrink wrap), non skid floor still not clean and two garbage bags of crab cleaned up to include the following (hand full of blunts, glassine bags (8), several home made bongs out of plastic soda bottles, EZ wide wrappers, beer bottles, food wrappers, and a box load of half smoked cigars broken up and spread all over the place. Oh and since no one in my family smokes, my cockpit now smells like a pot house and an old man's bar from all the cigar and cigarette smoke. (I hope it will dissipate in time once the shrink wrap comes off in the summer.
So my advice to all who have their boat in the AYC take a ride by and make sure you have not had unwanted guests.
By the way my boat was on the corner of M and G dock up on land.
