I'm planning a trip to Chicago for pizza during the first full week in August. I would like to boat up the Chicago River and lock into the lake and stay at a marina but I am worried about the weather on the lake. If I get to the lock and the weather is bad is it possible to anchor or tie up on the river side of the lock? We would walk to a bus or train station and go for pizza and come back in a few hours (the boat would be unattended) then spend the night and leave the next morning. Quimbly's does not list any services for that area. I have looked at the CTA maps and can't find any buses or trains going close to any inland marinas.
