Anyone have any great solutions or concoctions to clean that green corrosion left from salt water leaks. I know I can wire brush it but unless I take a lot of stuff apart I can't get to all of the corrosion. Also can't soak the parts as they are still installed. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is an acid like product made for cleaning fiberglass. I'll check my locker on the side deck of the boat in the morning and let you know what it's called. You do have to neutralize it after you are finished but it won't remove the bilge coat.

An acid soak followed by neutralizing and anti corrosion coating is what you would do for individual parts but that might not be a good idea with installed stuff. What is it and where is it located? simply washing it well and then anti corrosion spray might be best.

I have the green corrosion build up on both ends of my transmission cooler where the hoses attach. They had a very small leak only detectable by the corrosion build up. Also have some on one of the main engine raw water pumps and on the generator raw water pump. Still verifying I have all the leaks stopped but have a lot of clean up.

A leaking water pump should be rebuilt then painted. leaks at hoses are not unusual and usually caused by a less than clean seal area. The easiest way to deal with them is remove the cooler clean and paint. It is very important to thoroughly clean the inside of the hoses before reattaching them. Some people use a sealer on hoses such as Rector seal from home depot.

For in place painting mask the edges and then wrap aluminum foil around the parts. Much easier to conform to odd shapes and it holds itself in place.
