I am the guy who was looking at the 84 Riviera. It isn't the right boat for us
BUT we found an '89 Santego 27, 500 hours on twin 4.3s. Positive first inspection, still need survey and sea trial.
Fits our needs, but looking for your opinions.

More boat for your money. I.O.'s? Hours on motors no problem. If the price is right it's a comfortable boat. Less awkward than the Riviera. I know some people love the layout of the Riveria but I never felt comfortable on them.

We have a 1988 27' Santego we have no problems it is a great boat easily handled in rough weather on the Chesapeake Bay. Very roomy and spacious for 27 footer, ours has twin 190 H.P. 4 cly. Engines and cruises at 25 mph.

JUSTCHILLIN - Those motors sound a bit undersized. How quickly does it get up on plane?

She is no speed demon I would say less then a quarter mile, I never use trim tabs and the boat does not plow. I do have s.s. props, all the 27’ Santegos that I looked at had that engine set up.
