Recently I purchased a Commodore 360. I have a question regarding the stern access door. It has only one hinge which allows the door to sag and then bind when closing it, Is anyone aware of a fix which eliminates this sag.
I attempted to access the old sight when for opinions on the 360 when I was considering purchasing this boat so it is great to see this sight up and running,.

Not really familiar with your boat but if you post a picture or 2 I'm sure we can think of some suggestions to try.

We have a pretty creative bunch here.

I have not been able to figure out how to attach pictures to this thread. Please advise on how to do this and I will send pictures. I enjoy this sight and I'm sure someone has solved this problem

If you don't already have a web hosting site for pic's - go to photobucket.com and set up a free account - after you upload your pic just copy and paste the bottom link under the pic to your post

These pictures show the transom door when open, and you can see how much it drops. When closing it binds on the lower part of the door opening. There is only one hinge on this door. Has anyone seen a fix for this or is it possible to add a second hinge to help stabilize the door?

You are missing the leading "[" around the img tag.
I fixed one above for you so if you click edit your post you can see what I mean.

That said, it would help to see the hinged area itself to come up with ideas.

I finally have been able to get pictures of the hinge. As you can see from the phptos there is a lot of weight on the single hinge. When the door is swung open as in the second picture the hinge tend to twist allowing the door to sag, has anyone seen a fix for this . I have seen pictures where the door has been removed, but I would rather not do that.

Rockpopper,

This was/is a common problem with the early 360's. Due to the shape of the door/transom Regal was only able to use one hinge for the entire door. We have an early '89 and it was one of the first to incorporate a pocket door that slides into the transom on the port side of the walk-through. Rather than trying to fix the hinge issue, perhaps you could go for the pocket door approach. I don't think it would be a big job, and probably the most difficult part to make would be the door itself since it has to be molded in the "V" shape of the transom.

Also, from your picture, it looks like the hinge could be cut down an inch or two on the side that attaches to the transom. This would reduce the size of the hinge that is subject to the bending moment of the door. In doing this, your door may not be able to swing a full 180 degrees, but it might cure your problem.

Good luck...let us know how it turns out.
